Sharon is the Clinical Research Program Director for the Clinical Research Hub. She provides strategic direction and oversight of the office’s clinical research program as a central coordinating and support resource for FSU human subjects researchers. She also is the team lead for the office’s newest resource, the Clinical Research and Trials Unit, a 2,200-square foot facility designed to support clinical research and clinical trials in advancing the understanding, prevention and treatment of human diseases and health conditions. The outpatient research space has private exam rooms, interview/testing and consultation rooms, and vital signs/phlebotomy space with processing and specimen storage capabilities. Prior to joining FSU, Sharon worked in a variety of clinical and research roles at Tallahassee Memorial HealthCare, Southern Medical Group and Tallahassee Research Institute. These included clinical research coordinator and clinical nurse manager with oversight for a variety of departments such as direct patient care, CLIA certified laboratory, radiology department, and an RN lead anticoagulation clinic. Sharon is excited to bring her knowledge, skills, and enthusiasm back to her alma mater.

Jennifer is the Business Manager for the Clinical Research Hub. She helps manage and is the first point of contact for all administrative, fiscal and business inquiries of the office and the FSU Clinical Research and Trials Unit. A Tallahassee native, Jennifer joined Clinical Research Hub after spending more than 16 years with the FSU Office of Design & Construction as a Project Administrator and Business Manager, with responsibility for the University’s Design & Construction project contracts, budgets and administration. Before that, Jennifer spent more than two years in the Office of Admissions and Records at FSU as a Senior Accountant.

Joe is the Chief Clinical Research Officer for the FSU/Tallahassee Memorial HealthCare research collaboration. In this role he works with FSU researchers, TMH clinicians, the FSU Office for Clinical Research Advancement and the TMH Office of Research to foster and facilitate research collaborations between the two institutions. Joe holds a joint reporting relationship to the FSU Vice President for Research and the TMH Vice President and Chief Integration Officer. He joined FSU from Legacy Research Institute in Portland, Oregon, where he was Vice President of Research and led a highly translational biomedical research program. Prior to his position at Legacy, Joe served in a number of different leadership roles at the National Institutes of Health and its affiliates. He also was a senior research scientist for the Vice President for Research at the University of Maryland, an assistant professor at Brown University, and a research physiologist at the Armed Forces Radiobiology Research Institute.

Nissa is a Clinical Research Consultant at Florida State University. She serves as a liaison between faculty, staff, researchers, and students conducting medical and clinical research in community-based healthcare settings. Nissa previously served as the administrator for REDCap research data management software, and still consults and builds projects by request. Nissa previously worked at University of Florida as a center coordinator on an NIH funded U54 grant shared with partner institutions, Florida A&M University and the University of Southern California. Before that, she worked as a clinical research coordinator in both Endocrinology and Anesthesiology at Boston Children’s Hospital, focusing mainly on health services research within those specialties. She obtained her MPH at Boston University School of Public Health with a concentration in Health Policy and Management.

Kimberly Mattox serves as a Clinical Research Consultant at Florida State University, where she partners with research investigators to support protocol development and review, study startup and implementation, participant recruitment, and training. She also offers guidance in Smartsheet to streamline project tracking and collaboration.
Before joining FSU, Kimberly spent nine years at Nationwide Children’s Hospital in Columbus, Ohio, gaining extensive experience in clinical research operations and regulatory affairs. Her last role there was as Project Coordinator in the Office of Research Regulatory Affairs.
With a strong foundation in research and a passion for supporting scientific discovery, Kimberly is excited to bring her knowledge, skills, and passion to the FSU research community.

Phill is the Director of FSU Health Research Connections for the FSU Health Initiative. In this role, he works with Leads from the research service Hubs at FSU to coordinate support for researchers, create further awareness about the resources available to FSU researchers, and generate data-informed programmatic growth to meet the evolving needs of the university. As the Lead of the Clinical Research Hub, he directs the support team that offers research study development, recruitment, coordination, and biospecimen collection services, and facilitates collaboration with FSU researchers and clinical partners across North Florida and South Georgia. Prior to his arrival at FSU, Phill directed the Clinical Research Program at Tallahassee Orthopedic Clinic and served as an athletic trainer in varying capacities in collegiate athletics and orthopedic settings.
